Abstract
Background & Objectives: In this study we investigated current research trends in preschool childhood language impairment. The purpose of the study was to analyze research and to review the current issues in the literature concerning preschool childhood language impairment.

Methods: We analyzed the data in terms of research participants, methods, themes, and language aspects of the research papers published in the Korean Journal of Communication Disorders, the Journal of Speech-Language & Hearing Disorders, and the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (JSLHR) from 1998 to 2008.

Results: The Korean articles focused on variable research subjects and themes, and there were relatively few intervention studies and research methods. The results of the analysis also revealed that JSLHR focusing on the prediction of language disorders specifically analyzed from speech samples, follow-up studies, and longitudinal studies. The review papers in the JSLHR were relatively more specific than in the other journals.

Discussion & Conclusion: We discussed the implications regarding research trends in preschool childhood language impairment for future research in Korea.
